The series includes files on the council's activities in the United Arab Republic (UAR) for the period 1958 to 1971, when Egypt was known as the UAR. From 1958 to 1961, the UAR comprised Egypt in a political union with Syria; Egypt then retained the title until 1971 after Syria left the union.
