Return by Ralph [Baldock], bishop of London of an inquisition taken by writ (attached) of King Edward II [20 February 1310] concerning ordinances for the vicarage of Chingford (Essex), which the Knights Templar recognised as having been put to their own uses, to the effect that by the authority of Richard of Gravesend, formerly bishop of London, and with the will and consent of the Templars and the vicar at that time, the vicarage was divided into portions, which would henceforth remain to the vicarage, and that these had been in the peaceful possession of Reginald, the present vicar for some time:
