Description

Notarial instrument drawn up, on 6 November 1369, by Richard de Warthill', clerk of the diocese of York, notary public, concerning the suppressed election of William of Utterby, illegitimate, as abbot of Wellow by Grimsby (Lincolnshire) and the royal assent to the provision in his stead of John of Utterby by John [Buckingham], bishop of Lincoln, to replace Richard of Utterby, who had recently died; with a copy of a letter from the bishop of Lincoln certifying the king of his actions in this matter [dated at Liddington (Rutland), 26 October 1369].
