File of documents relating to the affairs of Syon abbey (Middlesex).

[m. 1] Petition to the abbess and nuns of Syon abbey from Robert Edward, vicar of West Angmering (Sussex), that they might provide answer to a bill he had previously submitted for the augmentation of his benefice, which had been deferred until he had provided more information about the charges (offerings, tithe, pension, wax, etc.) by witness of sufficient of their tenants within the parish. Witnesses (all of West Angmering): John Palmer; Richard Julyan; Thomas Bownde; Thomas Pays; Robert Wood or 'at Woode'; John Toper; Robert Julyan; Stephen James; Henry Baker; William at Velde; Richard Constable; Morys Martin or Martyn. Valuation then supplied [1461-2];

[m. 5] Award of Richard Thomlyns, Thomas Bartlotte, John Selet and John Alyngeld in their arbitration of a long-running dispute between Elizabeth, abbess of Syon and Robert Wylkynson late of London, ironmonger, over three cottages lately built by Master John Somersete at the Gravel Pittes beside Brentford bridge in the parish of Isleworth (Middlesex), and 3s. of rent of lands and tenements lately of Agnes Clementes in Isleworth, an annual farm which Robert claims for a pasture called 'Balans' and other appurtenances, and over the occupation of a pasture lying beside a park of the monastery which the abbess claims as her way [12 October 1473]; Endorsed: Thomas Bartelet, John Selet, John Colyn' and John Northern', arbiters, award damages to Thomas Cheryton for depredation of the warren on two acres of his land.

[m. 6] Award of Richard Thomlyns, Thomas Bartlotte, John Selet and John Alyngeld in their arbitration of a long-running dispute between Elizabeth, abbess of Syon and Robert Wylkynson late of London, ironmonger, over three cottages lately built by Master John Somersete at the Gravel Pittes beside Brentford bridge in the parish of Isleworth (Middlesex), and 3s. of rent of lands and tenements lately of Agnes Clementes in Isleworth, an annual farm which Robert claims for a pasture called 'Balans' and other appurtenances, and over the occupation of a pasture lying beside a park of the monastery which the abbess claims as her way [12 October 1473].

[m. 7] Transcript of a letter to [the abbess of Syon] from James H. recording delivery to the confessor of a bill containing the total sum of wood sold in every lordship and money received therefrom, including £3 11s. 4d. worth of wood in the forest of St. Leonards (Seyntleonardes, Sussex) which the earl of Surrey claims, and making pleas relating to his account. [Undated]
