Certification to Edward II by Robert de Bartelby, canon of Chichester (Sussex), and William de Swantone, dean of the college of South Malling (Sussex), of the admission of Robert de Strete, monk of Lewes (Sussex), as prior of Monkton Farleigh (Wiltshire).
By the death of Humphrey de Bohun, earl of Hereford, the advowson of the prior of Lewes, which has the right to present to Monkton Farleigh, had fallen to the king. They had associated with themselves with William de Bocstede and Andrew Paynel, monks of Monkton Farleigh and nuncios of the sub-prior of Monkton Fareigh, and, having gone immediately to Lewes, provided Strete in accordance with the king's letters patent and an agreement between Henry [de Bohun], late earl of Hereford, and the then prior and convent of Monkton Farleigh, on the one hand, and the prior and convent of Lewes, overlooking Geoffrey de Sancto Lupo, who had also been presented.
