Description

Petitions of the bishop of Lincoln in claim of fees from certain monasteries.

  • For the procurations to each of the monasteries of St Frideswide, Oxford, Littlemore (Oxfordshire), Daventry (Northamptonshire), Bradwell (Buckinghamshire) and Ravenstone (Buckinghamshire) for their triennial visitation, £3 6s. 8d.; every three years 25 marks, now £5 12s. a year;
  • For the right of confirmation of the elections of the heads of the aforesaid houses whenever they shall become vacant, £3 6s. 8.d.;
  • For the annual pensions of the churches appropriated to the same places: for the church of Padbury (Buckinghamshire), 2s.; from Daventry, Staverton, Norton and West Haddon (Northamptonshire), 8s.;
  • For the procurations of the same appropriated churches each three years by reason of the ordinary visitation according to the ancient rite;
  • That the bishop shall have the right of visitation of that college as he had and ought to have as ordinary, and that his successors shall have it;
  • That Tickford priory (Buckinghamshire) be again subsumed within the diocese of Lincoln;
  • For the annual pensions of the parish church of St Michael South, Oxford, lost by reason of suppression, 6s. 8d.;
  • The vicars choral of Lincoln Cathedral prayed for an ancient pension due to them and their church by a binding agreement for an annual sum from the priory of St Frideswide, £6 13s. 4d.;
  • The archdeacons of Oxford, Buckingham and Northampton prayed for their due and accustomed annual rights of procuration, synodal dues and indemnity of the churches appropriated to those places;
  • For the right to induct or install the priors and prioresses of those places that have been suppressed, namely for each installation, £3 6s. 8d.
