Description
(What the record is about)
-
This series contains files of the Board of Trade's Export Policy and Promotion Division and its successors covering policy issues relating to export promotion.
The series includes files concerning reviews of government export promotion series operated by the Board of Trade (and its successors), the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and issues such as the development of the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) at Birmingham and relations with the British National Export Council, the relationship between UK bilateral aid to poor countries, the Simplification of Trade Procedures Board, and World Trade Centres. Other files concern the British Overseas Trade Board, arms sales to South Africa, the Market Entry Guarantee Scheme, British pavilions overseas, export controls on livestock, armaments and works of art, British Weeks, and the collection of statistics and export credit and control.
The XP series was apparently inherited and added to by XP Division's successors, including EPD and OFP Divisions. The registration of files in this series commenced with the establishment of XP Division in 1968.
