Shanghai: Vol.IX: Marriages
Under the Act of Parliament regulating civil registration in England and Wales (6 & 7 Wm IV, c 86), no provision was made for the registration of births and deaths on Lundy Island. The entry concerning Lundy Island contained in the death register and the birth register (RG 33/36) are thus excluded from copies of the statuory registers held in the General Register Office. In 1870, the Registrar General accepted the offer from a private individual to undertake the registration of these events and provided the registers. For the purposes of the Census, Lundy Island was included in the Bideford Registration District and stated to be 'extra-parochial'.
