Description

British Foreign Legion. Enlistment of foreigners, mainly German (British German Legion) for duration of Crimean war. Act of 23 December 1854. Recruits from Nova Scotia (1855). Termination gratuities and permission to settle in South Africa. (Cape of GoodHope and British Kaffraria). Service with legion not reckonable for pension. Case of Paymaster John Hunt.
