Description

Fragment of cuir-bouilli, incised with swirls of circles and dots; shape accented with lines of red paint. Shaped towards a point, with slits for a strap.It has been tentatively identified as a case for a mitre or a triptych, of early fifteenth century date, and probably French or Flemish in origin.
