United States of America: 'A Map of the State of Pennsylvania by Reading Howell MDCCXCII'. 2 sheets. Title in oval cartouche surrounded by agricultural implements and flowers. Dedicated 'To Thomas Mifflin, Governor of the Senate and House of Representatives ...'. Dedication in a rococo cartouche above a drawing of a ship by a quay and warehouse. The certificate of the Clerk of the District of Pennsylvania appears at the top of the sheet bearing the title and dedication recording Howell's claim to the map. Table of symbols used for boundaries, roads, paths and buildings. Scale: 1 inch to about 5.25 miles. Compass star. Folded in a case with the label of the Quarter Master General's Department.
