Map of the coast line from Ararahae Bay to Wanganui, showing terrain (rivers, hills), towns, coastal road; land acquired by the Colonial Government at New Plymouth; British fortified posts; line of advance from Wanganui to the Waingongoro River. Scale: 4 inches to 40 miles. Latitude and longitude. January to April 1865. Lithographed at the Topographical Depot of the War Office, under the Superintendence of Lieutenant Colonel A C Cooke, Royal Engineers, Colonel Sir Henry James, Royal Engineers, FRS, Director, 1865. A War Office annotation in purple ink in upper margin reads: 'Second Edition'. Stamped in the Topographical Department, War Office, 12 August 1865. Formerly in the War Office map library, under the reference 'Oceania. New Zealand. B12 (a)'. 'Dist. 14' has been crossed out.
