New Zealand: Taranaki Province: 'Sketch of the Country between Patea and Kakaramea Shewing the Position taken up by the Maoris to oppose the advance of the Troops on the 13th March 1865'. Map shows terrain (hills, cliffs, swamps), coastline, River Patea and tributaries; roads; Patea Camp, redoubts on either side of river; site of operations. Key to numbered positions. Scale: 4 inches to 1 mile. Compass indicator. Annotated: 'Forwarded with report of April 6th 1865'. Signed by Lieutenant Colonel D J Gamble, Deputy Quarter Master General. Signed by Major G R Greaves, DAQMG. Enclosed in Gamble's report of 6 April 1865 (for the period 8 March 1865 to 6 April 1895: War Office reference 6525), in New Zealand Deputy Quarter Master General's Journal and Report of Operations. Stamped in the Topographical Department, War Office, 22 August 1865. Large, bold '17' on label affixed to upper, right corner. Formerly in the War Office map library, under reference: 'Oceania (New Zealand): Battles, Sieges and Warlike Operations 11'. Pin holes at corners of sheet.
