New Zealand: Auckland Province: 'Map of Part of the Northern Island of New Zealand Shewing the Scene of the Military Operations of 1863-4'. Map shows terrain (rivers, hills); towns, harbours, military roads, British fortified posts; land acquired by the Colonial government at New Plymouth. Scale: 5 inches to 5 miles. Latitude and longitude. A printed note reads: 'This Map is Compiled principally from the Admiralty Charts, Sketches by Col. [Colonel] Gamble, D.Q.M.G. and a "Map of the Seat of War, Province of Auckland," received from the Colony. As the greater part of the Colony is quite unsurveyed, the accuracy of portions of the map cannot be relied on'. Lithographed at the Topographical Depot of the War Office, 1864. Formerly in the War Office map library, under the reference: 'Oceania. B 7'. The original of the 'Map of the Seat of War, Auckland Province' is in WO 32/8275.
