New Zealand: Auckland Province. Two sheets: 'Map of the Seat of War Province of Auckland New Zealand Compiled from Admiralty Charts, Land Surveys, Hochstetters Geological Map, and Maori Sketches. February 1864'. Map of area between 175° 31' E and 177° E and between 36° 30' S and 39° S, showing terrain (coast line, lakes, rivers, hills); Maori villages; towns, place-names, harbours; military roads, British redoubts, sites of dated military engagements. Reference table. Scale: 1 inch to 4 miles. Latitude and longitude. Inset: 'Detailed Sketch Shewing the British and Maori Positions Feb. [February] 1864'. The map is not signed. Some pencilled grid lines on second sheet. This is a tracing of one of the manuscript maps stated to have been used in the compilation of maps at WO 78/5708 and WO 78/5709. Formerly in the War Office map library, under the reference: 'Oceania (New Zealand) Battles, Sieges and Warlike Operations 6'.
