South Africa: Cape Province: Cape Town. 'Table Bay Defences. Record Plan of W.D. [War Department] land at Craig's Battery'. Reference table. Scale: 1 inch to 50 feet. Compass indicator. Copied by C H Smith, Compnay Sergeant Major, Royal Engineers. Signed by Colonel G Philips, Commanding Royal Engineer, South Africa, to accompany his letter of 26 November 1889 to the Inspector General of Fortifications. Manuscript additions include a note stating that the area shown was one of the original freehold grants made in 1840.
