Jersey. 19 sheets of plans of fortifications: (1) Volunteer Redoubt, Tower Bel Royal and Tower Beaumont; (2) St Aubin's Fort; (3) Noirmont Tower and Battery; (4) Portelet Tower; (5) No I Tower, St Brelade's Bay; (6) Coleron Battery and Beauport Battery; (7) La Rocco Tower and Battery; (8) D Tower, St Ouen's Bay; (9) Greve de Lecq Tower, Nez de Guet Battery and Flicquet Tower; (10) St Catherine's Tower, Archirondel Tower and Victoria Tower; (11) Prince William's Redoubt and Fort Henry; (12) Towers 3, 4 and 5, Grouville Bay; (13) Towers 1 and 2, Grouville Bay; (14) Seymour Tower; (15) Plate Rocque and Battery and Le Hocq Tower; (16) Ichot Tower; (17) Towers A, B and C, St Ouen's Bay; (18) Tower 8 and La Hougette, Grouville Bay; (19) Verclut Signal Station (land transferred from the Admiralty to the War Department in 1880). Items (1-2, 6, 9-13, 15, 17-18) are MS, on tracing paper; items (3-5, 7-8, 14, 16, 19) are printed. Reference table to accommodation and armaments on each printed plan; the tables on item (4) have been left blank. Notes on the lands depicted on items (6) and (19). All items except (17) to scale: 1:500; item (17) to scale: 1 inch to 30 feet [1:360] and 1 inch to 100 feet [1:1,200]. Compass indicator to each plan. Items (3-4, 16, 19) surveyed under the direction of Lieutenant Colonel E L Bland, 1878, and items (5, 7-8) surveyed under the direction of Bland and Colonel J H Smith, Royal Engineers, 1874-1878; all of these items zincographed and printed at the School of Military Engineering, Chatham, under the direction of Lieutenant L Darwin, Royal Engineers, 1879. Item (19) surveyed by Bland and zincographed in 1881. Items (1-2, 6, 9-13, 15, 17-18) traced by J Littlejohn, Royal Engineers, 9-27 October 1896. All items except (6, 9-10) signed by Lieutenant Colonel H [?]Warre, Commanding Royal Engineer, Jersey, 30 October 1896; parts of some of the signatures are missing due to damage.
