Bahamas: New Providence. 1 map and 7 sheets of drawings of fortifications: (1) map of the northern part of the island covering Nassau and its environs, with Hog Island and adjacent small islands, and showing forts and batteries with the range of gunfire; (2, 8) 2 plans of Fort Charlotte; (3) sections [of Fort Charlotte]; (4) plans and sections of Fort Fincastle and a guard room; (5) plans and sections of Fort Nassau; (6) plans and sections of Fort Montague; (7) plan and sections of Fort Charlotte, showing improvement works proposed by the Earl of Dunmore. Reference table to item (1). Scale: (1) 1 inch to 1,000 feet [1:12,000]; (2, 8) 1 inch to 100 feet [1:1,200]; (3) 1 inch to 30 feet [1:360]; (4-6) 1 inch to 20 feet [1:240]; (7) 1 inch to 30 feet and 1 inch to 20 feet. Compass indicator to items (1-2) and (8). Items (4-6) drawn by Michael Berry; all items signed by Captain John Rutherford, Royal Engineers; dated 2 May 1798 on the dorse. Dimensions: (1) 46.5 cm x 99 cm; (2) 46.5 cm x 86.5 cm; (3) 47 cm x 71 cm; (4) 46.5 cm x 28 cm; (5) 72 cm x 47 cm; (6) 45 cm x 26.5 cm; (7) 47 cm x 58.5 cm; (8) 46.5 cm x 86.5 cm. Significant portions of items (1-2) are missing.
