Description

Nova Scotia (now part of Canada). Chart: 'Halifax Harbour surveyed by Captn. H. W. Bayfield R.N., F.A.S. 1853'. Reference table to cable lines. View of the harbour approach and drawings of buoys. Scale: 1 inch to 675 yards. Compass rose. Engraved by J and C Walker; published 29 October 1854. Coloured MS additions show the lines of proposed military telegraphs and fortifications, according to the fortification estimates for 1868-1869. Signed by Colonel R Burnaby, Commanding Royal Engineer, 21 November 1867-1869.
