Scale: 6 inches to 1 mile. Compass star; south-west at the top. Surveyed by the Royal Engineers, 1858-1862, under the direction of Lieutenant [E H] Steward, Captain [F H] Rich, Captain [E L] Bland and Lieutenant Colonel [R M] Laffan, all of the Royal Engineers; zincographed at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, under the superintendence of Captain [R M] Parsons, Royal Engineers, 1869. Coloured MS additions show completed and proposed works for armaments and the positions of shielded guns. MS reference notes [made c.1895]. Sheet size 64 cm x 101 cm.
