'Plan of the Fortress of Malta': two copies of a map of the area between Zonqor, Pembroke Barracks, Birkirkara and Zejtun, showing roads, buildings, place names and contours. Reference table. Scale: 6 inches to 1 mile. Compass star; south-west at the top. Surveyed by the Royal Engineers, 1858-1862, under the direction of Lieutenant [E H] Steward, Captain [F H] Rich, Captain [E L] Bland and Lieutenant Colonel [R M] Laffan, all of the Royal Engineers; zincographed at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, under the superintendence of Captain [R M] Parsons, Royal Engineers, 1869. Coloured MS additions show the positions and types of guns as settled in February 1870. Item (1) initialled: 'W F D J' [Colonel Jervois], 'G T' [not identified] and 'W H P' [Lieutenant Patten, Royal Engineers], 11 February 1870. Sheet sizes 64 cm x 101 cm.
