This reference was originally assigned to an accumulation of 79 maps, plans, paintings and photographs relating to the Crimean War; to Engelhardt and Parrot's travels in the Crimea and the Caucasus; to the Sudan; and to towns and ports in France. Following conservation work in February 1953, they were made up into nine portfolios and given the map extract references MPH 147A, MPH 147B, MPH 147C, MPH 147D, MPH 147E, MPH 147F, MPH 147G, MPH 147H and MPH 147I. After further conservation work in August 1993, they were divided between seven new portfolios and one bound volume and reverted to the original reference; each of the eight parts should now be ordered individually.
