(1-2) 'A short account of the larger West India Islands ...': two double-sided sheets of notes on the topography, history, economy, etc of Trinidad, Tobago, Grenada, Saint Vincent, Barbados, Saint Lucia, Martinique, Dominica, Marie-Galante, Guadeloupe, Antigua, Saint Christopher (Saint Kitts), Saint Martin (Sint Maarten), Anguilla, Saint Croix in the Danish West Indies (now the United States Virgin Islands), Tortola in the British Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, Cuba and Jamaica. Drawn by Alexander Whalley Light, Lieutenant Colonel, 25th Foot. Judging by the dates cited in the notes, it would appear that these drawings were made in about 1815 or shortly afterwards.
Many of the sheets appear to bear two or three different numbers. The item numbers used in this catalogue entry are those written on the dorse of each sheet in the form: 'WO 78/997 [item]'
