France. 'Valenciennes 1778': map of the town showing fortifications. Reference table. Scale: 4 inches to about 200 toises. Later additions comprising straight, dotted lines drawn between the fortifications and points in the surrounding countryside, labelled at intervals with numbers which possibly refer to heights about a mean level; the numbers clearly do not refer to distances. Signed by [?Captain Loyalty] Peake, [Royal Engineers], 1818.
