Ottoman Empire: Turkey: Kale-i Sultaniye (now part of Çanakkale). Plan of the castle. [Scale: ?1 inch to about 20 feet.] Two inscriptions have been added in pencil: (i) 'supposed to be the Castle of Sultanier as ordered to be executed by the Sultan. See Major Holloway's Plan 1799 [i.e. WO 78/778]'; initialled: S B [Howlett]. (ii) 'There is no Scale to the original Plan. The figures marked upon the Round Towers & c. I conceive allude to the different heights above the level of the Sea'; initialled: W T. The suggested date and scale were derived by comparison with WO 78/778.
