One map and three sheets of drawings: (1) 'Section thro' the casemated Redoubt proposed for the Heights of St. Justice ...'; (2) 'Plan to show the situation of the Heights called St. Justice near Binche for which a casemated redoubt is to be proposed'; (3) 'Sections thro' the Heights of St. Justice ...'; (4) 'Plan of a Casemated Redoubt proposed for the Heights of St. Justice near the West Side of Binche': showing the interior and exterior. Scale: (1, 3) 1 inch to 30 feet [1:360]; (2) 1 inch to about 400 feet [1:4,800]; (4) 1 inch to 40 feet [1:480]. Compass indicator to item (2). Dimensions: (1) 25 cm x 90 cm; (2) 44 cm x 82 cm; (3) 43 cm x 91 cm; (4) 51 cm x 82 cm.
Originally accompanying the Report of the Committee of British Engineers on the Fortresses of the Netherlands; the report is not filed with these drawings. This piece was part of a collection of plans and drawings held by Major General Sir John Jones which, following his death in 1843, were sent to the office of the Inspector General of Fortifications; correspondence about the transfer and a list of the plans and drawings are among the papers in WO 55/959
