Kingdom of the Netherlands: Oudenaarde (or Audenarde; now in Belgium). Two maps and a section: (1) 'Plan of the Town of Audenaerde with the line of the proposed fortifications marked in yellow, to show in what degree they correspond with the remains of the former works'; (2) 'Plan of the Town of Audenaerde shewing the Fortifications as it is proposed to restore them'; (3) section relating to item (1). Scale: (1-2) 1 inch to 150 yards (or 1 inch to 450 feet) [1:5,400]; (3) 1 inch to 30 feet [1:360]. Compass indicators to items (1-2). Dimensions: (1-2) each 35 cm x 54 cm; (3) 31 cm x 205 cm.
Originally accompanying the Report of the Committee of British Engineers on the Fortresses of the Netherlands; the report is not filed with these drawings. This piece was part of a collection of plans and drawings held by Major General Sir John Jones which, following his death in 1843, were sent to the office of the Inspector General of Fortifications; correspondence about the transfer and a list of the plans and drawings are among the papers in WO 55/959
