Four sheets of the Ordnance Survey six-inch County Series joined: Kent [XXV]-XXVI and [Kent XXXVII-XXXVIII], together forming a map of the Isle of Thanet. Scale: 6 inches to 1 mile. Sheet XXXVII surveyed by Captain the Honourable W le Poer Trench and Lieutenant Hill, Royal Engineers, 1872; contoured by Captain [W] Wynne, Royal Engineers, 1876; engraved at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, under the direction of Colonel Bayly, Royal Engineers, 1876, with the outline by G H White, writing by W H Tinkler and ornament by J Bull; published 16 July 1877. Sheet XXXVIII surveyed by Captain Trench and Lieutenant Hill, 1872-1873; contoured by Captain Wynne, 1875; engraved in 1876, with the outline by C Caplen, writing by J Hutton and ornament by D Connor; published 15 August 1877. Coloured MS additions show War Department property at Margate, Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Pegwell Bay. Signed by Colonel Charles P Akers, Commanding Royal Engineer, South-Eastern District, 23 July 1880.
