'Map of Ashantee [i.e. Ashanti] and Gold Coast': two copies of a map, each on two joined sheets, covering the area (now in Ghana) between Nsuta (north-west of Kumasi), the mouth of the Volta River and Cape Three Points, showing rivers, mountains, regions, and named settlements. Item (2) is damaged at the lower right-hand corner. Scale: 1 inch to about 4.65 miles. Compass roses. Lithographed at the Topographical Depot, War Office, under the direction of Major C W Wilson, Royal Engineers. Coloured MS additions to item (2) show areas surveyed and mapped by Captain G L Huyshe and Captain R H Buller, Deputy Assistant Quartermasters General, and their assistants, 20 October 1873. A pencilled note on item (1) states that the scale is approximately 1 inch to 5 miles.
