Ordnance Survey six-inch County Series sheets Kent II and [Kent VIII] joined to form a map of the environs of Woolwich, Plumstead, Bexleyheath, Chislehurst and Eltham (now in the London Boroughs of Greenwich, Bexley and Bromley); areas lying in Essex have been left blank. Sheet VIII surveyed and contoured by Lieutenant Colonel Bayly, Captain Carey and Captain Palmer, Royal Engineers, 1862-1868; engraved at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, under the superintendence of Colonel Cameron, Royal Engineers, 1869, with the outline by John Knox, writing by J Hutchinson and ornament by M Marshall; published 31 January 1870. Coloured MS additions show War Department property in the vicinity of Woolwich. Signed by Colonel W Driscoll Gorsit, Commanding Royal Engineer, 22 April 1873.
