Middlesex: Westminster and Kensington (now the London Boroughs of Westminster and Kensington and Chelsea). Two maps made up from sheets of the Ordnance Survey five-foot map of London: (1) sheet 470, showing part of Hyde Park immediately north and east of the Serpentine Bridge; (2) sheets 466 and [495] joined, together covering the area between Orme Square in the north-east and Holland Park in the south-west. Item (2) damaged at the lower edge. Scale: 5 feet to 1 mile [1 inch to 88 feet]. Item (1) surveyed by Captain Carey, Royal Engineers, 1862; engraved at the Ordnance Survey Office, Southampton, under the direction of Colonel Cameron, Royal Engineers, 1867; published 31 August 1867. Survey details for item (2) are missing, due to damage; sheet 495 published 31 May 1867. Coloured MS additions to both items: (1) highlighting Hyde Park barracks and magazines; (2) highlighting Kensington Palace Barracks, off Kensington Church Street. Originally produced in relation to a letter from the Commanding Royal Engineer, 12 May 1868; this letter is not filed with the map.
