Malta: Cottonera. Seven sheets of plans and drawings of fortifications at Verdala Front, showing proposed alterations. (1) Section through Saint James's curtain; scale: 1 inch to 100 feet [1:1,200]. (2, 7) Two sheets of sections; scale: 1 inch to 20 feet [1:240]. (3) Section through the curtain between Saint Clement and Notre Dame Bastions; scale: 1 inch to 45 feet [1:540]; inset: outline plan showing the lines on which the sections were taken. (4) Plan of the fort and bastions, showing works; scale: 3 inches to about 400 feet [1:1,600]; compass indicator. (5) Plan of Notre Dame and Saint Clement Bastions; scale: 1 inch to 15 feet [1:180]. (6) Plan of the central part of the fortifications, showing details of buildings; scale: 1 inch to 25 feet [1:300]. Each sheet signed by Lieutenant Douglas Galton, Royal Engineers, July 1844; and stamped by the Board of Ordnance. Dimensions between 86 cm x 265 cm and 21 cm x 62 cm. Originally accompanying a report by Colonel George G Harding, 2 August 1844; the report is not filed with these sheets.
