Selection and destruction information

For the years 1891-1914 all files which survived were selected for permanent preservation. The files for 1915-1930, in BT 226/4403-4510, are a selection. From 1928 onwards (BT 226/4512-) a structural sample has been taken. Other than cases identified as being particularly large, or where the occupation was novel or unusual, or relating to famous or infamous persons, the main aim of the selection has been to provide a representative sample of occupations roughly based on the headings used in the 1928 Bankruptcy Annual Report.
