Minutes, general and case papers and correspondence of the committee known successively as the Development Areas Treasury Advisory Committee, Board of Trade Advisory Committee, Ministry of Technology Advisory Committee and Local Employment Acts Financial Advisory Committee.
The papers concern applications for financial assistance from companies moving to development areas and fall into three distinct categories: the minutes of the Committee meetings at which the applications were considered; case papers and correspondence arising from applications, including specimens of the briefs prepared for presentation at the Committee meetings; general papers covering various aspects of procedure and policy concerning the workings of the Advisory Committee.

The Advisory Committee was established under the Distribution of Industry Act, 1945, and subsequent legislation culminating with the Local Employment Act, 1972, to advise successively the Treasury, Board of Trade, Ministry of Technology and Department of Trade and Industry on applications for financial assistance by way of grants and loans from companies working to expand in or move to development areas.
Originally known as the Development Areas Treasury Advisory Committee (DATAC), its name later changed to Board of Trade Advisory Committee (BOTAC), Ministry of Technology Advisory Committee (MOTAC), and finally Local Employment Acts Financial Advisory Committee (LEAFAC).
