Description

Correspondence between Earl Cornwallis as Lieutenant General commanding in the South and various American commanders (including Nelson) regarding Exchanges of Prisoners. A bundle of loose papers numbered as folios 1-86. (Described at item level)

Letters from Cornwallis are copies or drafts, while others are originals except as noted. Letters from the American side, particularly those from Lafayette, are in the hands of various aides or secretaries. The first few are in very pale ink.
