- In the calendar the document numbers are followed in the first part, and the stamped numbers (identical with the lozenged folio numbers at the foot of each sheet) in the second. This switch was not due to a cessation of document numbering, which is stillusually in place, but possibly resulted from the rearrangement of documents (the numbers are not always in sequence) as Japikse dated them. One document, a survey of the Honours of Tutbury and Needwood, calendared on page 78 of the Calendar of 1684-1685 as being from SP 8/1, no 40 is now to be found in SP 8/2 no 3, f 38.
