John Walton (in Rome until Feb 1731, then from Florence. Secret service agent Baron Philippe von Stosch, alias John Walton, wrote concerning the activities of the Old Pretender and the Jacobite court. Walton's reports in this series begin in 1730 at Rome before his removal in February 1731 to Florence following an assault on his person. The reports end in 1757 with his death.
