Description

Privy Council report on the restitution of the value of ship and cargo, previously sold, after the successful appeal to the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council on the prize cases of the Franciska and Union, taken in 1854 by HMS Cruizer for breaching the blockade of Riga.

An appendix give several examples from the Napoleonic war:-

  • Mercury, 1804, on appeal from High Court of Admiralty;
  • Gerechtigheid (master Johan Carl Tode), 1806, on appeal from High Court of Admiralty;
  • Aurora (master Ramon De Vrioste), 1806, on appeal from High Court of Admiralty;

  • Ville d'Amiens (master Jean Bourayne), 1816, on appeal from High Court of Admiralty;
  • name unknown, taken by HMS Lynx, 1810, on appeal from High Court of Admiralty;
  • Natalie, 1816, on appeal from High Court of Admiralty;
  • Catherina Maria (master Jochim Raabe), 1803, on appeal from Vice-Admiralty Court of Gibraltar;
  • Falck (master M J Falck), 1805, on appeal from Vice-Admiralty Court of Jamaica;
  • Triton (master Gottfried Melm), 1810, on appeal from Vice-Admiralty Court of Jamaica;
  • Madoc (master Joseph H Allen), 1817, on appeal from Vice-Admiralty Court of Gibraltar.
