Description

Entry book of royal sign manual warrants and Treasury warrants. The warrants are to the Office of Works.

They mainly refer to the appointment of the various first commissioners of works and public buildings, the appointment of a keeper of Greenwich Park, the laying of a water main through Bushy Park, the erection of an entrance lodge and the construction of a reservoir in Richmond Park, the maintenance of the main gas pipe and the discharge of the rent for the sewer under Hyde Park, and the erection of a new forge and shoeing building there, the formation of new roads and the removal of the Wellington Arch at Hyde Park corner, the erection of a building at Somerset House for the Civil Service Volunteer Corps, and the sale of houses in James Street (Buckingham Gate) and on the Pimlico estate. A number of plans are included.
