Eyre file, London.

Incomplete file of Bench writs ('extracta brevium') and associated material sent to the London eyre of March 1341.

The writs in this file were originally returnable in the Bench in 7 Edward III (1333), but were later refiled and sent to the eyre, following an order to that effect (CCR 1339-41, p.606). Only two sections survive here, from the front and rear of the original file. Those in the first bundle were all returnable at the octave of Hilary 1333, while those at the end were returnable on the final return day of Trinity term (the quindene of St John the Baptist) and in Michaelmas term. The writs returnable in the remainder of the year, forming the middle section of the original file, are yet to be identified.
