Refiled Bench writs ('extracta brevium') and associated material sent to the Surrey eyre of 1294.
The majority of this file was found intact on the original thong, and in precise return date order, running from the octave of Michaelmas 1289 to the octave of Martinmas 1291. Two further writs, returnable on the next return date (the quindene of Martinmas 1291) were discovered loose, and seem to have become separated from this file. It is likely that further writs returnable on that day are still missing.
Two further files of writs sent to this eyre, relating to the periods immediately before and after the writs in the present file, are at JUST 4/2/19 and JUST 4/2/21.
