The Profiteering Act, 1919, the Profiteering (Continuance) Act, 1919, and the Profiteering (Amendment) Act, 1920, gave powers to the Board of Trade to investigate complaints against profiteers and to proceed publicly against them if necessary, and to determine proper rates of profit. This department was set up in August 1919 to administer the acts, and was disbanded in May 1921 when they expired.
