The Royal Parks Agency was set up in April 1993 as a Next Steps agency of the Department of National Heritage, (from 1997 the Department for Culture, Media and Sport). The Agency's aim is to manage the royal parks efficiently for the benefit of the public and to ensure that they are preserved for the use of future generations. The Royal Parks Constabulary is also part of the Agency. Its aim is to produce an efficient and effective level of community policing within the royal parks.
The full title is the Royal Parks Agency, although the title commonly used is 'The Royal Parks'.
