Description

Correspondence, Original-Secretary of State: Correspondence received from Offices (Government departments and other organisations) and individuals on subjects concerning the Bahamas. Correspondents and subjects are as follows: Offices:

  • House of Commons (money grants to the Governor);
  • Admiralty (disturbance at Nassau, fires at Nassau and riotous assault on the Police);
  • Crown Agents (claims of the Henley Telegraph Company);
  • Council Office (case of Chief Justice Yelverton);
  • Law Officers (case of Chief Justice Yelverton and his removal);
  • Treasury (case of Chief Justice Yelverton and whether Mr Moseley was in contempt of court, contempt of court case);
  • Foreign Office (information respecting the Acting Portuguese Consul, Manuel Menedy salvage and the Eldorado, application of Mr Yelverton for a copy of a document);
  • War Office (sale of Military Hospital, payment of army pensions, transmission of proceeds of the sale of military buildings, War Department property at Hog Island);
