Description

Letters from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and from individuals relating to the Windward Islands. Correspondents and subjects covered are as follows:

Offices:

  • House of Commons (reference to costs of plaintiff in Donnelly v Gumbs, St Vincent);
  • Admiralty (proceedings of HMS Argus during riots, Tobago);
  • Council Office (Order in Council confirming Acts to amend constitution of St Vincent and Tobago);
  • Crown Agents (loans for St Lucia Central Sugar Factory Company);
  • Law Officers (Special Commission for trial of rioters, Barbados);
  • War Office (military movements in connection with riots, Barbados; attendance of Lieutenant General Farren at Legislative Council, Barbados; steps taken for preservation of peace during trial of rioters, Tobago; Queen's Birthday dinners,, Barbados);
