Correspondence, Original - Secretary of State: Correspondence from 'offices' (Government departments and other organisations) and individuals on matters relating to the Turks and Caicos Islands. Correspondents and subjects are as follows: Offices:

• Foreign Office (appointment of Andrew G Carothers as US consul, port charges at Haiti and Santo Domingo [Dominican Republic]);
• Land and Emigration Board (Mr Eugenius Jones's application to purchase land in East Caicos, Mr James Winter's application for lease of additional 40 acres, memorial from Crown lessee Mr Nathaniel T Butterfield and his sub-lessees, proposed conversion of leasehold tenure to freehold, charges on Crown revenue, proposed railway construction);
• Law Offices (comments on probate legislation - Ordinance No 4 of 1860);
• General Post Office (memorial from inhabitants concerning mail communication, prepayment of postage, mail service agreement);
• Wesleyan Missionaries at Grand Cay (legislation to provide a salary for a Wesleyan minister);
• Baptist Missionary Society (complaints against Reverend W K Rycroft, memorial from inhabitants [not in item, sent to Turks Islands]);
• Wesleyan Missionary Society, London (complimentary address presented to Reverend J T Hartwell on his departure from Grand Turk);

• War Office (no sufficient reasons for maintenance of military detachment in Turks Islands, President Inglis's expedition to West Caicos with a detachment of troops, legislation for the enrolment of volunteer corps, provision of uniforms for volunteer corps, Mr Graham's course of instruction in musketry, arrangements for payment of Lance Corporal Russell sent to Turks Islands as instructor of volunteer force, stores issued to volunteer artillery).
