This is a book of fees charged for sealing documents from 1721 (23 January) till 1781 (19 January). The names of the sealers, the quantity and nature of the documents sealed are listed and the fees received entered, with additions of the sums at the end of each page. The chronological framework within each year is provided by the legal terms Hilary, Easter, Trinity and Michaelmas.
At the end of the (unpaginated) book a series of sealers' receipts for fees from 1721 to 5 June 1781 and a series of bills for necessary expenses for the Seal Office, 1721 to 1754 appear (the latter from 1734 onwards being on loose sheets of papers). The book itself bears the title 'A Seale Book for Lincoln'.
