Some of the early files pre-date the establishment of the Welsh Office in 1965 and deal with the forward budgeting for the new department as well as containing information concerning local government financial devolution. The series also contains files relating to the Aberfan tip disaster in 1966 and its aftermath, and the Investiture of the Prince of Wales in 1969.
