BD 49
1954-1972
This series contains correspondence between the county councils and ministries on a variety of subjects dealing with commons. Most of the files relate to the administration of common lands and deal with subjects such as enclosure and sale of lands, provision of fencing and correspondence with local authorities and associations concerning the administration of the Commons Registration Act 1965. These include schemes of registration, enclosures, grazing rights and rights of way.
Some of the records in this series were created by the former Ministry of Land and Natural Resources, the former Ministry of Housing and Local Government in the KC file series and the Ministry of Agriculture Fisheries and Food in the LO/N file series. These were then re-registered into the C and CG series.
Earlier files relating to common lands in the LO/N series can be found in MAF 235
