The post of the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration was created by the Parliamentary Commissioner Act 1967. The commissioner's function is to investigate complaints referred to him via Members of the House of Commons from the members of the public who claim to have suffered injustice as a consequence of maladministration in actions taken by or on behalf of government departments.
